出版说明
我国是一个农业大国，随着其他科学领域日新
月异的发展，农业科技也在迅速发展。特别是实行
改革开放政策以来，农业科技文化对外交流拓展了
广阔的领域，出现了崭新的面貌。在这种形势下，
农业界广大科技、教育、翻译工作者以及有关方面
人士，迫切需要高质量的双语类综合性农业词典。
但已出版的农业双语类词典，多因其专业范围和服
务对象所限而词汇量不足，或因科学技术的迅速发
展而难免失之陈旧；至于比较满意的双语类综合性
农业词典仍然少见。及时满足读者在这方面的需
求，是农业科技文化界的责任，更是中国农业出版
社的使命。面对社会的迫切需要，我社投入了大量
的资金和人力，经过十年的艰苦努力，编辑出版了
这部规模大、内容新而全的《英汉农业大词典》。
这部词典参考了国内外大量农业工具书、教科
书、报刊文献及其他有关资料，通过精心筛选，最
后收词近30万条。其内容覆盖农、林、牧、渔所
有各专业或学科。部分专业名词术语加有注解或标
明学科，以利读者准确理解词义。凡生物物种名称
一般都标出拉丁学名。
国内外大型工具书历来都是由学术权威部门或
权威学者来负责编纂的。因此，物色合适的作者是
关键。这部词典的作者队伍由全国农业领域近百位
专家、教授组成。他们既有精深的专业学识，又有
良好的外文素养，为本词典顺利地编纂出版奠定了
基础。
这部词典的编纂成功，是社会各界大力支持，
通力合作的结果。这里要特别感谢中国农业科学院
及各专业研究所、中国农业大学、南京农业大学、
南京林业大学、东北农业大学、浙江农业大学、华
南农业大学、上海水产大学、西南农业大学、沈阳
农业大学、中国科学院南京土壤研究所、甘肃省草
原生态研究所、中国畜牧兽医学会、农业部动植物
检疫局、国家气象局、中国食品发酵工业研究所、
江苏省植物研究所等单位的支持；还要感谢农业部
